Pre-School & Kindergarten
Classes are designed to enhance the creative ability, coordination and musicality of the child between the ages of 3 to 6 years. The classes are one hour weekly and combine creative movement in pre-ballet, tap and introductory acrobatics.
First – High School 1 1/2 hour class combining instruction of Ballet, Tap and Jazz.
All the elements of barre, centre, adagio, and allegro are given during each class.
Students must have a minimum of 3 years of ballet training and be at least 12 years of age. Students must also be enrolled in a ballet training class along with their pointe work.
Jazz and Hip Hop
Classes are offered to students 6 years of age and older. Barre and centre floor exercises, isolations, combinations and routines are presented. Various styles of Jazz are taught to pop, rock, blues, hip hop and lyrical music.
The classes emphasize technique, clarity of sound, rhythm, speed and training in basic combinations and routines.
Limbering and stretching exercises are emphasized while one builds and develops strength, balance and endurance. All students desiring to accomplish beautiful acrobatics should enroll in a ballet class also.
D.E.C. Classes/ Company Classes
Classes are open by invitation. Any student invited to be part of a company is required to take a ballet class, or combination class.
Modern style of theatrical dancing that is not as restricted as classical ballet; movements are expressive of feelings.
A dance style that combines elements of ballet, modern and jazz techniques. It is commonly set to popular music.
Classes begin Monday, September 10, 2018
No classes Columbus Day (Monday, October 8), Halloween (Wednesday, October 31) Thanksgiving weekend (Wednesday November, 21 through Sunday, November 25), Christmas Vacation (Saturday, December 22 through Tuesday, January 1, 2019). Presidents Day, April Vacation (April 14- 20, 2019), and Memorial Day
Students interested in Ballet, Point, Lyrical Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Modern, and Acrobatics will find classes for their particular talent and will receive instruction by talented, conscientious and dedicated teachers. Although lessons themselves are to be considered most important, both teacher and student anticipate the annual dance recital which is held mid May to mid June, depending on the availability of the theatre rental.
Any color leotards and tights are okay for classes. Ballet skirts must be attached to leotard.
The required shoes are:
Ballet – White Slipper, Acrobatic – Barefoot
Pointe– As recommended by teacher
Tap– White (4th grade and younger)
Hip Hop– Black Jazz Sneaker
Acrobatic– Black Gym Shoe
Jazz– Tan Bloch Boot
Hair must be secured away from face.
Dance sweaters and vests only are permitted in class.
No sweatshirts or t-shirts allowed.
Jazz pants may be worn only for jazz students.
Fitted dance shorts are allowed.
No jewelry is to be worn in class.
Students are placed at the appropriate levels in each subject based on a combination of age, previous dance training and their demonstrated skill. Students do not necessarily change levels each year since dance classes often vary in pace within the same level, according to how each group works together. Changes may be suggested after classes begin to assure that each student receives the best possible learning experience.
A non-refundable registration fee of $25.00 per student and a maximum of $50.00 per family is payable upon registration.
Tuition & Fees
The first of 8 equal monthly payments (September-April there is no May payment) is due at the time of registration along with the registration fee. Each additional payment is due by the 25th. Payments may be made by Cash or Check (payable to D.E.C. or Dawn B. Rand). A $10.00 late fee is applied to accounts that receive a payment after the 1st. A $30.00 fee is applied for all returned checks. Mailing envelopes are provided for your convenience. All payments are non-refundable.

Solos, duos, and trios will begin October 1st, Tuition Rates listed above include the cost of a costume except for solos, duos trios and any free classes. For families with 3 or more children, discount to be discussed with director.
For notice of school cancellation we will follow the Clinton school closing. If there is no school in Clinton there will be no dance class. If there is a delayed start there will be no classes before NOON. If there is an early release there will be no afternoon or evening classes. NO REFUNDS OR CREDITS WILL BE GRANTED FOR SNOW DAYS.
